the year all of these centres have been used for the provision of
dinners for necessitous children. The meals are served under
the supervision of women assistants specially employed for this
purpose, and they are also responsible for the cleanliness of the
dining room and the washing of the dishes, etc. The diet
sheets are submitted to and approved by the school medical
officer.
Children are provided with free meals on the recommendation
of the school medical officer or the head teacher. The
number of children for whom meals have been provided as compared
with previous years is as follows:—

THE EMPLOYMENT OF CHILDREN IN ENTERTAINMENTS
RULES, 1920.
Under the provisions of the above rules made by the Board
of Education under Section 3 of the Prevention of Cruelty to
Children Act, 1904, as amended by Section 13 (2) of the Education
Act, 1918, which require that the applicant for a licence
must produce a certificate from the school medical officer certifying
that the child may be employed in the manner proposed
without detriment to health, physical development and education,
19 certificates have been issued.
