At Ruckholt Road, Mayville Road and Capworth Street
Schools the meals are prepared by the pupils attending the Centre
for cookery lessons, under the supervision of the cookery instructress.
They are served by a woman assistant specially appointed
for this purpose, who assists in the preparation of the food, supervises
the children at their meals, and is responsible for the
cleanliness of the dining room and washing of plates and dishes,
etc. At Cann Mall Road School the woman assistant cooks the
food as well as carrying out the duties of service and supervision
of the meals, etc. The dietaries have been submitted to and
approved by the School Medical Officer. Many children found
during the course of medical inspection to require extra feeding
in order to obtain full benefit of the education provided, have been
recommended by the School Medical Officer to receive free
dinners, which recommendations have been adopted.
The number of children for whom meals have been provided,
as compared with previous years, is as follows:—

THE EMPLOYMENT OF CHILDREN IN
MENTS RULES, 1920.
Under the provisions of the above rules made by the Board
of Education under Section 3 of the Prevention of Cruelty to
Children Act, 1904, as amended by Section 13 (2) of the Education
Act, 1918, which require that the applicant for a licence
must produce a certificate from the School Medical Officer certifying
that the child may be employed in the manner proposed
without detriment to health, physical development, and education,
I have issued 15 certificates.
