The number of house-to-house inspections—464 in 1920,
against 1765 in 1914—is not, in my opinion, by any means satisfactory,
but with the present staff it is impossible to do more and
cope with the extraordinary number of complaints. Consideration
of increase of staff has been adjourned by the Public Health
Committee.
House-to-house inspection has been made in the following
roads:—
Sidmouth Road, Leyton. Dawlish Road, Leyton.
Claude Road, Leyton. Millais Road, Leyton.
Frith Road, Leyton. Morris Road, Leytonstone.
Gilbert Street, Leytonstone. Goldsmith Road, Leyton.
Nursery Cottages, Hitcham King Street, Leyton.
Road, Leyton. Beaumont Road, Leyton.
Peterborough Road, Leyton.
Fifteen houses have been inspected in accordance with the
provisions of Section 28 of the Housing and Town Planning Act,
1919, with a view to requiring them to be made in all respects
reasonably fit for human habitation, and necessary repairs have
been carried out by the owners at 7 houses. The necessary work
at the remaining 8 is to be completed by the Council.
