DEATHS.
1,092 deaths of Leyton residents were registered during the
year—547 males and 545 females.
To these must be added 127 males and 111 females, being
deaths (transferable) received from the Registrar-General.
The death-rate for 1920 was 10'3 per 1,000 of the population.
ZYMOTIC DEATH-RATE.
The deaths which occurred during the year from the seven
principal Zymotic diseases were as follows:—Measles, 1G;
Scarlet Fever, 5; Diphtheria, 27; Whooping Cough, 24; Enteric
Fever, 1 ; Diarrhoea and Enteritis, 29.
The Zymotic death-rate for 1920 was "79 per 1,000 of the
population.
INFANTILE DEATH-RATE.
The infantile mortality rate, i.e., the number of deaths of
children under one year of age per 1,000 births was 65.34, there
being 207 deaths.
NOTIFICATION OF BIRTHS (EXTENSION) ACT, 1915.
This Act took effect on September 1st, 1915. Under its terms
2,983 births were notified during the year 1920—1,585 from
medical practitioners, 1,334 from midwives, and 67 from relatives.
The Health Visitors visited 3,041 newly-born infants and
paid 10,558 re-visits.
