TO THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF
THE LEYTON URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL.
Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to submit my Annual Report on the health
of the district for the year 1919.
The year on the whole may be considered a healthy one. Out
death-rate was 11.3 per 1,000 of the population.
Our Infantile Mortality rate, 70.1G.
Our Zymotic death-rate was .44 per 1,000 of the population.
The worst feature was the large number of cases of Diphtheria,
but the prevalence of this disease was not peculiair to
Leyton. The surrounding districts, and indeed most of those
throughout the Kingdom, suffered at least to an equal extent.
The number of deaths due to Measles and! Whooping Cough
were gratifyingly small, each disease being responsible for three
only.
The section devoted to Infant Welfare has been fully dealt
with, the work of the Clinics and of the Health Visitors being
given in detail.
My best thanks aire due to the Councillors and Officials for
their kindly help at all times.
I am,
Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
J. FRANCIS TAYLOR.
