The 624 extractions were all performed under Nitrous Oxide
anasthesia. Nitrous Oxide was administered on 155 occasions,
which resulted in an average of four teeth for each administration.
MENTALLY DEFECTIVE, BLIND AND DEAF CHILDREN.
Two blind children are maintained at the East London Home
and School for Blind Children at Clapton, and one attends the
Morning Lane . Day Centre, Hackney.
Two mentally defective children are resident in the Hastings
aad St. Leonards Home, one in Hopwell Hall, Derbyshire, two in
Littleton House School, Cambridge, and eight attend the Walthamstow
Day Centre for Mentally Defective Children. Eight
children attend the Water Lane Deaf and Dumb Centre, West
Ham, three attend a similar centre at Gainsborough Road, Walthamstow,
one is at Anerley Residential School, and one at the
Royal Institution, Edgbaston.
Epileptic Children.—Two girls are resident at Chalfont St.
Peters, two at Mudh Hadham, Hertfordshire, and one at the
Epileptic Colony, Lingfield.
PROCEDURE IN VERMINOUS CASES AND OTHER
CONDITIONS DUE TO NEGLECT.
When children are found to be verminous they are sent to the
Inspection Clinic and then excluded from School by the School
Medical Officer. After the lapse of several weeks' exclusion from
School, during which time they have been instructed and
cautioned, the parents are summoned to attend before the various
School Attendance Sub-Committees.
The parents of 151 children were thus dealt with, and prosecutions
for non-attendance at School instituted in 48 instances,
as a result of which fines and costs amounting to £15 15s. were
inflicted.
EDUCATION (PROVISION OF MEALS) ACT.
Meals have continued to be provided during the year at three
of the School Cooking Centres—Ruckholt Road, Mayville Road
