Disinfection of premises and clothing has been systematically
carried out.
MEASLES.
There were 41 deaths during the year, giving a death-rate of
.32 per 1,000 of the population.
The 41 deaths occurred in the months stated:—

35 deaths occurred in children under five years of age, i.e.,
in children who do not attend school, and 6 between five and fifteen
years.
I received from the school teachers informatior. in respect of
1,287 cases of Measles.
The Health Visitor paid 1,107 visits to these cases, and 154
other visits to cases or suspected cases of German Measles.
WHOOPING COUGH.
There were 28 deaths during the year, giving a death-rate of
.22 per 1,000 of the population.
12 of these deaths occurred in children under one year of age,
12 in those between one and two years, and 4 in those of two and
under five years.
The Health Visitor paid 270 visits to these cases.
DIARRHŒA AND ENTERITIS.
Diarrhoea and Enteritis caused 28 deaths, 24 of which were
of infants under one year of age.
Our death-rate from Diarrhoea and Enteritis under two years
was 9.79 per 1,000 births.
CEREBRO-SPINAL MENINGITIS.
4 cases of Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis have been notified
during the year, of which 2 died. In addition, one case (not
notified) died in a Children's Hospital.
