DRAINAGE.
The drainage of 83 houses has been reconstructed. In many
cases the drains formed portions of combined systems of drainage,
and in such instances the work has been done by the Council's
workmen and the expenses incurred have been recovered from the
owners.
During the year 9 ventilating shafts were provided to the
public sewers.
LEGAL PROCEEDINGS.
54, Acacia Road, Leytonstone.
36, Birkbeck Road, Leytonstone.
3, Montague Road, Leytonstone.
118, Grange Park Road, Leyton.
Proceedings were instituted against the owners of the above
houses for non-compliance with notices requiring certain sanitary
defects to be remedied.
In three of the cases the necessary work was completed before
being dealt with by the magistrates, and in the other instance an
abatement order was made, the work required being then carried
out and the costs paid by the owner.
