TO THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF
THE LEYTON URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL.
Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
The Annual Report for 1915 on the Health and Vital Statistics
of the district, which I beg herewith to present, is much briefer
than usual for reasons connected with the war.
Every man of military age in the Public Health Department
has either joined the Army for foreign service or has offered himself
under Lord Derby's Scheme.
On the whole the year has been a healthy one; Scarlet Fever
has been prevalent, but there have been no serious outbreaks of
Infectious Disease.
The continued absence of hospital accommodation for cases
of Smallpox occurring in this district is a source of grave anxiety
to your medical officers. May I once more draw the Council's
attention to their responsibility in this matter?
My best thanks are due to the Councillors and to my fellow
officials for the consideration and kindness they have shown me
on many occasions.
