Our death.rate from Diphtheria for the year 1914 was .22
per 1,000 of the population; that of England and Wales, .15; of
the 97 Great Towns, .16; and of London, T6.
PUERPERAL FEVER.
10 cases of this disease were notified, and three deaths
occurred ; a case.fatality of 30 0 per cent. The fatality per cent.
of the total births is .11.
Two cases occurred in the practice of midwives, and 2 other
cases were attended by women not on the register.
The County is the authority for the administration of the
Midwives Act, and the County Medical Officer of Health has
been promptly notified of all cases coming under his jurisdiction.
Disinfection of premises and clothing has been systematically
carried out.
