Of the 223 Scarlet Fever cases 103 were males and 120 females,
and of the 98 Diphtheria cases 48 were males and 50 females.
No deaths occurred from Scarlet Fever.
The following are the particulars of the 6 deaths which
occurred from Diphtheria:—
Male, 4 years. Diphtheria, Toxaemia; in hospital 1 day.
Male, 8 years. Diphtheria, Paralysis; in hospital 43 days.
Male, 4 years. Diphtheria, Albuminuria; in hospital 9 days.
Male, 6 years. Diphtheria, Laryngeal Obstruction, Tracheotomy,
33 hours; in hospital 39 hours.
Female, 8 years. Diphtheria, Toxasmia; in hospital 1 day.
Female, 5 years. Diphtheria, Heart Failure; in hospital 4 days.
Tracheotomy was performed on three occasions, in two of
which it resulted in saving the life of the child.
34 cases of Scarlet Fever and 10 cases of Diphtheria were
treated on the "barrier" system.
