The applicants for the other licence were the Stratford Cooperative
Society, who are adapting premises in Union Road,
formerly occupied by the North Metropolitan Tramways Company,
to the purposes of their business. No objection could reasonably
be raised to these premises. They were entirely re-constructed for
the purpose of slaughtering on an extensive scale, and no expense
was spared to make them suitable for the purpose.
Two new licences, renewable annually, were granted to
purchasers of old businesses where the vendors had held slaughter
house licences.
TUBERCULOUS MEAT.
Four pig carcases exhibiting evidences of Tuberculosis were
surrendered by a butcher.
They came through the Central Meat Market from Woburn,
Bedfordshire.
The Medical Officer of Health wrote to the Medical Officer
under whose supervision the district of VVoburn is situated, who
made inquiries, and the County Police were communicated with,
but no proceedings were taken.
