the occupier of a workshop had failed to affix an Abstract of the
Factory and Workshop Act in pursuance of Section 133 of this
Act.
OUTWORKERS.
This term applies to persons who are employed at certain
classes of work in their own homes; under the Factory and
Workshop Act powers are given to Sanitary Authorities for controlling
the conditions under which the work is done, chiefly with
the aim of preventing work being done under uncleanly or insanitary
conditions and on premises where there is dangerous infectious
disease. •
A Register is kept of the homes of the outworkers, and they
are regularly inspected, and any insanitary conditions found are
remedied.
During 1911 the names of 786 outworkers were received from
other Councils.
87 lists, containing the names of 473 outworkers, were sent in
by employers residing in our district, and 228 of these were drafted
on to the various Councils.
