was not tuberculous), a prize of £10 and a £10 silver cup for the
best exhibit in its class at the Islington Cattle Show.
I felt very sorry for the butcher in this case, as he sent for
me and asked me to inspect the carcase. It certainly seems hard
that he should have to bear the whole loss (about £12). If a
breeder had to give a guarantee with every animal he sold to a
butcher, there would, in my opinion, be a speedy revolution in the

BAKEHOUSES.
We have 46 bakehouses in the district, five being " underground."
One underground bakehouse has been given up, the
premises now being used for another trade.
They have been regularly inspected, and are kept in a cleanly
state and in accordance with the provisions of the Factory and
Workshops Act.
INFECTED CLOTHING, BEDDING, &c.
For carrying the above to and from the steam disinfector we
have two vans: one for fetching the infected articles and the other
for the return of the same articles after disinfection.
COMMON LODGING-HOUSES.
We still have no common lodging-houses in the district.
