Unsatisfactory cases include the following:—Enlarged Tonsils
and Cervical Glands, Post-nasal Catarrh, Adenoids and Mouth
Breathers, and Tonsillitis, Ozœna.
The throat was considered satisfactory if the tonsils were normal
or had been removed, and no other pathological condition was
obvious. If adenoids did not cause mouth breathing, impairment
of speech, deafness, pigeon chest, or other apparent deformity or
defect, the post-nares were presumed to be normal. Adenoids
were not sought for by post-nasal exploration.
