annual health report
For 1898,
by
A. F. PESKETT,
medical officer of health.
Gentlemen,
I beg to present to you my Annual Report for 1898.
The weather during the past year has presented several features
of more than average interest. The most striking of these have been
the persistent absence of rain, and the mild weather which occurred
in those months when we generally experience cold weather.
The Rainfall was some 8 inches deficient during the year, the
driest months being January, April, August, and September, when the
rainfall each month was less than 1 inch.
The 'weather experienced in September was almost phenomenal,
being exceptionally free from rain and being excessively hot; this
excessive temperature being the more noticeable on account of the
hot and dry weather it succeeded.
