BIRTHS.
During the year there were 2,501 births registered, being an increase
of 129, and consisting of 1,278 males and 1,223 females.
The birth rate is 29.3 per thousand, the rate in 1896 being 30 8
per thousand. The rate for England and Wales for this year is 297
per thousand.
There were 95 births in the Union Workhouse.
