The previous year's figures are given in brackets.

Improvement Grants.
My advice has been submitted to the Council in 80 instances during
the year.
Re-Housing—Medical Aspects.
My advice has been sought during the year on some 123 applications
respecting which medical recommendations for priority had been submitted
by hospitals or private practitioners.
Overcrowding.
Every opportunity is taken in the course of routine visiting to
ascertain what the general state of overcrowding is and where any infringement
is being committed the matter is given full consideration and
the advice of the Committee is sought. Short of a comprehensive survey
which would show the true position at one particular time, no better
method seems to exist of keeping in touch with overcrowding.
The overcrowding at one such case noted above was abated during
the year.
Caravans.
This problem is still with us in limited measure.
Land Charges Enquiries.
During the year 3,777 land charges enquiries were referred to the
Department regarding the question of outstanding sanitary notices and/or
certificates of disrepair. Information is also given as to whether or not
a particular property is in a smoke control area.
This is one of the routine unpublicised but time-consuming occupations
of the Department.
Common Lodging House.
There are no registered common lodging houses in the district.
