is proving a very good subsitute for the Home Safety brochure produced
so successfully by the former Home Safety Committee.
The present Sub-Committee gave careful consideration to the production
of a further brochure but in view of the Rospa publication
coupled with other factors, decided to defer the matter for a further 12
months.
The Sub-Committee also arranged for a float to take part in the 1962
Carnival; participated in a public health exhibition on Clean Food and
Clean Air; reviewed the hospital statistics of home accidents in the
County; displayed posters throughout the district; supported the national
Broken Glass and Water Safety Campaigns; distributed special cards to
doctors and chemists drawing attention to the need for care in the storing
of drugs. Visual education was not neglected and at one meeting a selection
of home safety films was shown to members. It was decided to make
further use of this medium when addressing organisations.
Altogether a full and active year is reflected by our home safety
activities.
Laundry Service for the Incontinent—
Section 84, Public Health Act, 1936.
Advantage is taken of the above Section legally to provide this
type of service.
Increasing use is made of it (a fuller note was made in my 1960
report) and it is invaluable to the relatively few but deserving families
who benefit by its operation.
Since the service was commenced the number of cases partaking
was 51. The number of garments treated during the year was 3,525. The
cost of the service during the year was approximately £305.
