Radioactivity.
The Conference of the South West Essex Authorities on radioactive
waste is to continue in being. A meeting of this Conference was held
on 11th April, 1961. 9 local authorities were represented and Mr.
D. G. Arnott, the Director of the Radioisotope Laboratory at the London
Hospital was also present.
In July, 1961, I attended a three weeks Course under the auspices of
the World Health Organisation on "Public Health Aspects of Radiological
Protection". The practical work was carried out at the Isotope School,
Wantage, controlled by the Atomic Energy Research Establishment,
whilst the lectures were held at the School and at Oriel College,
Oxford. Numerous visits of interest and practical importance were
paid - including within their scope Harwell; the Churchill Hospital,
Oxford; the Radiological Protection Service at Sutton, Surrey.
