The Milk (Special Designation) (Raw Milk) Regulations 1949-54,
and The Milk (Special Designation) (Pasteurised and Sterilised Milk)
Regulations, 1949-53 :
The number of licences issued by the Council during the year was
as follows:—
Dealer's (Pasteuriser's) 1*
Dealer's (Pasteurised) 56
Supplementary Pasteurised 7
Dealer's Sterilised 76
Supplementary Sterilised 8
Dealer's Tuberculin Tested 40
Supplementary Tuberculin Tested 6
* Ceased an 31.10.57.
Milk Sampling.
The 134 samples of milk taken from the dairies and in the streets
during the course of delivery to customers throughout the year were
submitted to the Counties Public Health Laboratories for testing. In each
case a satisfactory report was received. In addition 48 (1 unsatisfactory)
samples were submitted to the Public Analysts and 5 (all satisfactory)
for biological examination.
Liaison With Other Authorities.
Our excellent liaison with the London County Council in respect of
the Horn church Children's Homes and the Brentwood Group Hospital
Management Committee in respect of Harold Wood and Harold Court
hospitals regarding the testing of their milk supplies noted in last year's
report continues.
School Canteens.
Efforts were being made at the end of 1956 to secure a completion
of the works considered necessary for full compliance with the Food
Hygiene Regulations, 1955. This still represents the position at the end
of 1957.
Game Dealer's Licence.
One Game Dealer's licence was issued during the year pursuant to
Section 27(1) of the Local Government Act, 1894.
