Scarlet Fever.
At 122 cases the annual incidence is low as compared with an
average of 203 for the past 11 years. The type of disease remained
mild.
Clarification is urgently required on the question of the necessary
period of isolation for uncomplicated home nursed cases. The
tendency to shorten the period of isolation, be it at home or hospital,
has gained considerable ground with the development in
chemotherapy of recent years, but to what extent this should go
affords an opportunity for collaboration between the general practitioners,
epidemiologists and the bacteriologists.
