Accommodation.
No legal overcrowding existed in any household where there
was a case, and with the exception of one four-roomed house
all the other cases occurred in a house comprising 6 rooms
or more.
Number in eamily.
Including the patient, the households comprised 3 persons
in four instances; 4 persons in six instances; 6, 7 and 9
persons in one instance each.
Children in Household.
Including the patients, there were in seven instances 2
children, in one instance 4 children, in one instance 5 children,
in one instance 7 children, whilst in three instances the household
did not include any children.
Multiple Cases.
In no instances did more than one case arise in the family.
Drainage of Houses.
Save in one instance where there was an earth closet, the
affected households were all provided with main drainage
facilities.
History.
In only one instance did it appear that there might have
been exposure to infection, and even in this one instance, a
near relative of the case had only been exposed to risk from
other cases in the course of his employment without the area.
Swimming Pools.
In no instance was a history given of regular visits to
Swimming Pools.
Paddling Pools.
In only one instance was attendance at a Paddling Pool
noted.
Cinema Clubs.
No instance arose in which the case attended the cinema
clubs, although some patients had been intermittent attenders
at the cinema.
Oganisations.
One case was connected both with a Sunday School and
Scouts, but in none of the other cases was an association with
either of these bodies suggested.
Pig Bins.
In one instance there was a pig bin within 7 yards of the
house (the case in this house was a very mild non-paretic one).
In two instances there was a pig bin within 75 yards; in three
instances within 100 yards; in one within 150 yards; whilst
all the others were over 200 yards.
