Deaths of infants under one year of age 86
Infant Mortality Kate (per 1,000 births) 41.0
Deaths from :—
Male. Female.
Cancer 66 81
Diabetes 4 0
Diarrhoea (under 2 years) 9 2
Influenza 5 3
Pneumonia 77 22
Measles 0 0
Whooping Cough 0 0
The Vital Statistics show a satisfactory trend in that the birth
rate is higher and the death rate lower than the previous year.
It is, however, to be regretted that the Puerperal deaths showed an
increase from 3 to 5. The infant mortality remains constant at a
figure, which although not what might be termed high, could still
bear a material reduction.
