Tuberculosis.
During the year, 116 new cases of Tuberculosis were added to
the register. These included 105 cases in which the respiratory
organs were affected, and 11 cases in which the infection was in
some other part of the body. This is 32 less than last year.
There were 51 deaths from this disease, being 1 less than last
year.
At the end of the year the Tuberculosis Dispensary serving this
area was transferred from 70, Eastern Road, Romford, to 89 Western
Road, Romford, to enable the provision of greater facilities.
The new address is a modern Clinic with a first-class X-ray Department,
and eventually it is hoped to commence artificial-pneumothorax
treatment.

Non-Notifiable Diseases of Childhood.
During the year the cases of non-notifiable infectious disease
occurring among school children have been reported by Head
Teachers as followsChickenpox, 331; Mumps, 126; Scabies, 12;
Rubella, 4; Impetigo, 11; Ringworm, 3; Influenza, 254. This is a
considerable increase on the numbers reported during the previous
year.
These numbers must necessarily be accepted with due reserve
since they represent our only available, but not necessarily wholly,
accurate information.
