Meat.
There are 4 slaughterhouses in the District licensed under
Section 57 of the Food and Drugs Act, 1938, but none is in regular
use for slaughtering animals, this being prohibited by the Livestock
(Restriction of Slaughtering) Order, 1940.
A successful prosecution for failing to notify slaughter was
taken early in the year.
Offensive Trades and Business of Fish Frying.
The question of an order being submitted to the Minister of
Health for confirmation pursuant to sub-paragraph B, paragraph 2
of sub-section 1, section ]07 of the Public Health Act, 1936, declaring
the trade or business of Fish Frying to be an Offensive Trade
within the Urban District was considered. The Order had not been
confirmed by the Ministry of Health at the end of the year.
SECTION F.
PREVALENCE OF AND CONTROL OVER INFECTIOUS
DISEASE.
As compared with last year the figures show an increased incidence
of Scarlet Fever ('214 as against 121) and Whooping Cough
(150 as against 38), and a decrease of Measles cases (478 vice 1,196).
There were no cases of Smallpox, Typhoid Fever or Encephalitis
Lethargica.

In the following table are shown the number of notifications received, and the number of cases removed to hospital.
