Section E.—Inspection and Supervision of Food.
(a) Milk Supply.
There are 7 producers of milk in the District.
Dairy farms and dairies are inspected frequently in connection
with the Milk and Dairies Order, 1926. 27 samples of milk
were obtained and submitted to the Counties Laboratory for
examination and report on bacterical content and cleanliness. 4 of
these were not satisfactory and had to be examined again to obtain
a better result.
Altogether 22 reports were satisfactory and 5 were not
satisfactory. In each case the matter was taken up with the producer.
Milk. (Special Designations) Order, 1923.
Six firms have been granted licences by the Council to sell
graded milks in the district, of which one retails Certified Milk, 6
retail Grade A (TT) Milk, one Grade A Pasteurised Milk, one
Grade A Milk, and two Pasteurised Milk.
(b) Meat.
There are two slaughter houses in the district which are
visited regularly by the Sanitary Inspector for the purpose of
inspection of carcasses.
Section F.—Prevalence of, and control over, Infectious and
other Diseases.
The incidence of Scarlet Fever and Diphtheria cases was
about the same as last year. Most of the cases were removed to
hospital for treatment including 30 cases which were removed to
London County Council Hospitals from the Hornchurch Residential
Schools.
