Premises and Occupations which can be controlled by
Byelaws and Regulations.
Cowsheds, Milkshops and Dairies are dealt with
under Milk Supply.
Slaughter Houses. There are nine licensed
slaughter houses in the district, to which frequent visits
are paid. There were nine contraventions of the Byelaws
noted and remedied. One slaughter house in
Pinner was not used for killing during the whole year.
The Byelaw for humane slaughtering is now in force,
and careful watch has been kept to guard against contraventions.
Three butchers were warned. On occasions
the bullets appeared to be faulty, two or more
shots being required to stun the animals.
Common Lodging Houses and Houses let in
Lodgings.—There are none on the Register.
There are no offensive trades in the district. There
is a marine store dealer in Edgware whose trade appears
to be growing. I have not received any complaint about
the premises.
There are no underground sleeping rooms in the
disrtrict.
Other Sanitary Conditions Requiring Notice.
I would draw the attention of the Council to the
large amount of litter—chiefly paper—scattered about
the streets and open spaces of the district by the general
public. Stanmore Common, after a public holiday, vies
with Hampstead Heath, and I would suggest that a Byelaw
should be passed with a view to remedying this
state of affairs.
Schools.
Several visits have been paid to Schools. The water
supply and closet accommodation, etc., have been satisfactory.
