The Rural District of Hendon,
—♦—
Area, 11,055 Acres.
Population, Census 1911, 14,161.
Estimated Population, 1915, 16,603.
Me. Chairman and Gentlemen,—
I have the honour of presenting you my Annual Report
upon the sanitary condition of your District.
It is the 21 Last of the new series', and covers the year 1915.
This report has been drawn up mainly on the lines of
those of the past years, but owing to the war, in the question
of figures, it has not been considered practicable to adhere
strictly to former methods. The estimated population has
not been arrived at in the manner of previous years,
when the census returns have been used as a basis for the
figures. Instead, the Registrar-General has forwarded me
his estimation, which I understand has been deduced with the
help of the National Register. It follows that no comparisons
can be drawn between the death-rates of this year and those
of the past years, all continuity having been broken, and
therefore in this respect I have not alluded to the latter
figures.
With regard to births and birth rate, I have been requested
to base the birth rate for 1915 upon the existing
estimates of total population for 1914. Here again, all comparison
with the figures of previous years has been omitted,
as it would be quite useless.
