TYPHOID FEVER
There was one case of Typhoid Fever notified in Hendon. The patient was a
school boy who had recently returned from a holiday in the West Country, The source
of his infection was not discovered, but in retrospect the boy and members of his
family thought that there had been sewage contamination at the bathing beach and
inquiries confirmed that this may have been so.
PARATYPHOID FEVER
One case of this disease was notified. The patient was employed in a laboratory
where research on this disease takes place.
FOOD POISONING
During the year 31 cases of food poisoning were notified compared with 14 in
1960. The following is a copy of a report made to the Ministry about the organisms
responsible for the individual and family outbreaks.
