Establishments for Massage and Special Treatment.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY COUNCIL ACT, 1944,
SECTIONS 353—363.
The Council continued to exercise its function as a licensing
authority under the provisions of the above-mentioned
Act. A person requiring a licence or renewal of a licence
under this part of the Act must make application to the Local
Authority giving certain information, such as age, nationality,
technical qualifications and the nature of the Establishment
and the business to be conducted thereat.
The Council considered the following number of applicants:—
New Licences 3
Renewals of Licences 19
Certificates lodged under Section 363 by
members of the Chartered Society of
Physiotherapy 7
Licences Refused 2
In the eases where the licences were refused the person
who proposed to carry out the treatment did not possess the
technical qualifications reasonably necessary.
Welfare of Old People.
I am indebted to the Honorary Secretary of The Old
People's Welfare Committee for the following report on the
activities of the Committee during the year:—
" The office of the Committee is situated in the Methodist
Church Hall, The Burroughs, Hendon, N.W.4, telephone Hendon
0404, and is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and
Fridays to deal with any enquiry relating to old people and
for interviews.
Casework of all kinds is dealt with, including finding
accommodation of every kind from ordinary board and lodgings
to private homes and nursing homes, arranging cheap
holidays, visiting 'difficult' old people and helping them to
find new interests.
OLD PEOPLE'S CLUB.
A Club was opened in February, 1951. A committee of
Club members was formed in May and is responsible for the
routine running of the Club. The activities include day trips
