I have, in view of the transfer to the Middlesex County
Council, endeavoured to survey briefly the development of the
Maternity and Child Welfare services from their small beginnings
to their present comprehensive state.
This development has taken place under the administrative
control of the Borough Council and more particularly
under that of the Public Health and Medical Services Committee.
The work, however, will continue, the same staff will be
concerned with the operation of the Services, the same
Voluntary Workers will, it is hoped, continue to give their
services and the whole will operate under your Medical Officer
of Health in his capacity as Area Medical Officer.
