MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE—DENTAL
SCHEME:
The National Health Services Act, 1946, Part III, para.
22 (i) stated "it shall be the duty of every local health
authority to make arrangements for the care, including in
particular dental care, of expectant and nursing mothers, and
of children who have not attained the age of five years and
are not attending primary schools maintained by a local
education authority."
From the foregoing it may be assumed that the Act
envisages in the future a scheme of dental care for expectant
and nursing mothers and pre-school children on similarly
systematic lines of routine inspection and early treatment as
