The scheme now gives priority to:-
(a) Medical cases.
(b) Children having long distances to travel to and
from school.
(c) Children with parents on war work.
The Central Kitchen is now supplying to capacity, and two further
kitchens for supplying 1,500 and 1,000 meals daily respectively are in
preparation. Great delay has been experienced owing to inability to
get necessary equipment.
The cost of the meals is 6d. per child daily. Those who cannot
afford 6d. may apply for free meals or meals at a reduced rate. The
Education Committee have drawn up a financial scale, which is applied
to these cases."
SECONDARY SCHOOLS.
An analysis was also made of the nutritional standard of the children
attending the Secondary Schools, with the following results:-

The Board of education Statistical Tables are appended.
It will be evident that the volume of work so briefly portrayed in this
Report could only have been carried out by the loyal co-operation of the members
of my staff, whose numbers were depleted, particularly in the administrative and
clerical sections, by the calling up of members to His Majesty's Forces.
