SCHOOL MEDICAL SERVICES.
I am glad, to report that it was found possible to maintain the Medical
and Dental examinations and treatments of the children in the Public Elementary
and Secondary Schools to full capacity.
The change in medical personnel and the difficulties of obtaining staff
made it appear at one time that these services might have to be in some respects
curtailed raid this was foreshadowed at a later date in a Circular from the Board
of Education suggesting a limitation of inspections. Fortunately so far this
has not been found necessary and I trust that the services mil be continued
in their entirety, as a more complete survey can be maintained of the health
conditions of the children and much of the subsequent treatment arises from these
periodical medical inspections.
It is not proposed in a report of this nature to endeavour to deal
particularly with each of the services provided for the care of school children
but the following Table mil I believe give some indication of the volume of work
which vjas undertaken:-
