I should like to take this opportunity of paying a tribute to
Miss Mothershaw, the late Matron, whose health unfortunately broke down and who
ultimately was invalided from the service of the Council. I believe that her
breakdown was very largely due to the strenuous and worrying time that she had right
from the commencement of the war and which was greatly aggravated by the staffing
and other difficulties consequent upon the introduction of the Emergency Medical
Services Scheme.
