DYSENTERY.
66 cases of Dysentery were notified, an increase of 35 over
the previous year. This, however, does not, in my opinion,
represent an actual increase to this extent in the incidence
of the disease but is due to a growing realisation amongst
practitioners that many cases of gastroenteritis are due to the
Sonne bacillus and this was confirmed in the majority of cases
by bacteriological investigation.
