There are no stalls in the district but a few
covered vehicles visit certain portions of the district
for the purveying of meat. These are provided
with covered tops, sides and backs, and are kept
clean.
There are 45 Butchers Shops in the district only
two of which are without glass front panels. The
practice of placing the meat on "Tit boards" outside
the shops has, by request, been discontinued.
No prosecutions have been instituted for breach of
the Regulations, as in no instance could it be clearly
shewn that any contamination of meat had taken
place.
Speaking generally, the Butchers endeavour to
carry out as far as they reasonably can the spirit of
the Regulations.

(3) There are no Public Slaughter Houses in the District. Slaughter Houses.

The registered slaughter houses are very old
buildings but are kept in a cleanly condition and in
conformity with the Slaughter house Bye-laws.
A very small amount of slaughtering is performed
as most of the Meat Supplies are obtained by
the Butchers from the London Meat Markets.
At 2 slaughter houses, no slaughtering has been
done throughout the year.
The following table shews the number of animals
slaughtered and examined by the Sanitary Inspectors at the
slaughter houses:—
