6.—LABORATORY WORK.
Examinations of throat swabs, sputum and blood (Widal
test) are undertaken. Specimens are sent by the Medical
Officer of Health and Private Practitioners in the district to
London Laboratories which undertake the examinations for the
Council.
The following is a summary of the work done:—

Antidiphtheritic serum is supplied free of charge to Medical
Practitioners practising in the district. It is obtainable at
the Public Health Department and from certain Chemists and
(at any time, day or night) at the Isolation Hospital and the
Fire Station.
