this disease is undoubtedly declining. Here again there is
good reason to believe that work which we are doing now
is contributing to reduce the amount of disease years hence.
The early treatment of certain minor ailments in children
may be expected to save some of these children from developing
Tuberculosis in later life.
Pneumonia and Bronchitis together caused 49 deaths;
that is 63 per cent. more than Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
While these diseases cannot at present be said to be preventable
1 believe that some of the deaths might be prevented if
ample hospital accommodation were available.
