Details of the nuisances and defects dealt with are included
in the summary of work done by the Inspector of
Nuisances throughout the year, which he has submitted to
me, and which I have included in my report, as required by
Article 20 (16) of the General Order of the Local Government;
Board.
There are two back to back houses in the district.
Throughout the year 4 cases of overcrowding were discovered,
and the usual notices were issued which secured the
abatement of the nuisance.
With regard to the erection of Artizans' Dwellings. Last
year a Local Government Board Inquiry was held at the
Council Offices to consider the suitability of the proposed site.
The site was approved and a building scheme has since
been prepared which has met with the approval of the Local
Government Board, and tenders accepted by my Council for
the erection of 52 cottages, but owing to the increased cost of
building materials, the Contractor failed to sign the Contract,
and new tenders are being obtained.
