Petroleum (Regulation) Acts.
A fine of £5 was imposed for the storage of petroleum
mixtures without a licence and the defendant was also ordered
to pay £8. 0s. 0d. costs.
Food and Drugs Act, 1955.
(a) A baker was fined £20 and ordered to pay £8. 0s. 0d.
costs for selling a loaf containing a piece of string.
(b) Proceedings against a grocer for selling a mouldy loaf
were unsuccessful. The magistrates accepted the defendant's
plea of warranty and dismissed the summons but stated that the
Council was justified in bringing the proceedings. Costs were
not awarded
(c) A baker was fined £5 with £2. 2s. 0d. costs for selling
a loaf containing dirty dough.
