Maternity and Child Welfare Services.
These are administered by the Middlesex County Council and
there are numerous sessions for ante-natal and post natal care,
child welfare, immunisation and school health services in clinic
buildings, church halls, schools, and the mobile clinic.
Medical Examination of Council employees.
The total number of examinations carried out during 1963
was 140. Of these 37 were for superannuation purposes alone,
18 for admission to the Council's sick pay scheme, 57 for sick
pay and superannuation and 28 for various special purposes.
Water Supply.
The water supply in the district comes from Rickmansworth
and Uxbridge Valley Water Company and the South West Suburban
District Hater Company. It is adequate in quality and Quantity
and samples tested during the year have reached a satisfactory
standard. The water is hard and has no plumbo-solvent action,
its natural fluoride content is less than l part per million of
water but it is anticipated that action to remedy this will be
taken by the local health authority (the County Council).
All dwellings in the district now receive a direct mains
water supply, but there are approximately 130 caravans and these
draw their water from standpipes on various sites. Samples
taken from these pipes have proved satisfactory.
Establishments for Massage or Special Treatment.
There are now 7 establishments registered under the Middlesex
County Council Act, 1944. Six of these pre for chiropody
and one for physiotherapy and all are of a satisfactory standard.
