Facilities for the steam disinfection of bedding are avail
able when required at St. John's Hospital, Uxbridge, but it has
not been necessary to use these facilities during the year.
Ponds, Ditches, Watercourses, etc.
The routine inspection of these sites for rodent infestation,
pollution, general nuisances and mosquitoes was carried
out and remedial action taken where necessary. Their number is
being gradually reduced and during the year Harlington pond was
filled in. The canal feeder, which runs across the northern
Part of the District, is a constant source of trouble and it
would be a big improvement if this too could be filled in or
culverted.
