The Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act, 1960,
came into force during the year. It makes it necessary for site
operators to obtain planning consent before a site licence can
be issued. Model conditions for incorporation in licences have
been laid down by the Ministry.
To avoid involving both the Public Health Committee and
Town Planning Committee in this matter and as planning consent
is an essential preliminary to a site licence, the enforcement
of the Act has been entrusted to the Town Planning Committee.
Consultation between the Engineer and Surveyor's Department and
the Public Health Department takes place on applications for
Site Licences.
