"Safe Milk. In addition to the foregoing, ten samples of raw
milk were procured within your area and submitted to tests for
the presence of tubercle bacilli. No contamination was revealed."
Food Poisoning.
One outbreak of food poisoning involving seven persons
occurred during the year. The causative organism was Clostridium
Welchii (heat resistant) and whilst it was not possible to obtain
any samples of food from the suspected meal for bacteriological
examination it is probable that braised steak eaten in a
factory canteen was the cause of the outbreak.
Complaints about Food.
Only eleven complaints were received, compared with forty
last year, about food alleged to be contaminated, unsound or not
of the nature, substance or quality demanded; proceedings were
taken in two instances.
