"New Milk. Twelve of the samples shown to be unsatisfactory
were found to contain added water. All these samples originated
from the same farm and the average added water content on three
separate consignments sampled were found to be 2.4%, 2.46%,
1.52%. The farmer has been in business on the same farm for 41
years without any previous complaint and having reached the age
of 70 years was due to retire. The matter was dealt with by an
official caution."
"The other four samples shown to be unsatisfactory were
slightly deficient in butter-fat content and were drawn from
single churns forming part of large consignments. The average
butter-fat content for the whole consignment was satisfactory.
"Fish. Three samples of fried Haddock and Chips were purchased
in the district from the same shop. The fish proved to be Cod.
Legal proceedings were instituted and the defendant Company was
fined five guineas on each of two charges and were ordered to
pay three guineas costs.
