Overcrowding.
Thirty cases of overcrowding were abated during the year
and twenty new cases were discovered, making a net decrease of
ten in the number of cases still to be dealt with. It is interesting to
note that the average number of occupants for each house in the
district is now 3.60, the same as in 1940. The maximum figure
recorded was 4.02 in 1947, since when there has been a slight fall
every year.
