Medical Officer's Annual Report
Public Health Department,
Town Hall,
Hayes, Middx.
June, 1939.
To the Chairman and Members of the Urban District Council of
Hayes and Harlington.
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour of presenting to you the thirty-fourth
Annual Report on the health of your Urban District.
There has been no serious outbreak of infectious disease
during the year, and the incidence of scarlet fever has fallen by
more than 50 per cent. The death rate at 10.1 per 1,000 compares
favourably with that of England and Wales as a whole, which
is 11.6, while the live birth rate is 20.8 as against 15.1 for England
and Wales.
I would like to thank the members and officials of the Council
for their valuable co-operation in helping me to carry out my
duties as Medical Officer.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient servant,
J. STANLEY LLOYD,
Medical Officer of Health.
