(b) Meat.
Meat inspection is carried out by the Sanitary Inspectors,
who have made 907 visits of inspection to the slaughter-houses,
when a total of 10,137 carcases were examined, made up of 250
cattle, 268 calves, 101 sheep and 9,518 pigs. Five and a quarter
tons of meat were condemned from 242 carcases, viz., thirteen
cattle, 229 pigs.
No notification of intended slaughter under the Tuberculosis
Order of 1925 was received.
No system of marking inspected carcases has been adopted.
(c) Adulteration, Etc.
Through the courtesy of Dr. J. Tate, County Medical Officer,
I have received the following return of work done during the
year by the County Council Inspectors under the Sale of Food
and Drugs Acts in this district.
